Madagascar: first country to integrate the SDGs?

Last 25 September 2015, world leaders adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and tackle climate change by 2030.

The Sustainable Development Goals will now finish the job of the former 8 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), addressing the root causes of poverty and the universal need for development, and ensure that no one is left behind.

CAP conseil has the chance to play a significant role in achieving these objectives, through north-south institutional strengthening and capacity building. Upon demand of the IFDD – Institut Francophone pour le Développement Durable, CAP supports Madagascar in developing its National Development Program post-2015 (NDP post-2015).

CAP conseil is in charge of piloting the process with the designated inter-ministerial committee, from 2015 to 2016.

A first mission took place in Antananarivo in October 2015. 35 people participated to the workshop, followed a training on sustainability assessment of official policies and strategies and started a roadmap towards one of the first national strategy aligned with the SDG in the world!
